CHIME Festival Pilot
With the generous support of Arts Council England, we have been piloting new approaches to delivering outreach projects in the SEND community working closely with musicians and artists from K'antu Ensemble.
Here are some videos from our recent collaborative performances by pupils from The Hive College and Bluesky Nursery which were hosted in the Les Hayes Hall at Wilson Stuart School.
Hello Song
To create rapport with the mainstream nursery pupils, students from the Hive College introduced themselves in an introductory Hello Song.
I Can Play the Drum
This activity gave the Hive College students a chance to interact with the nursery students on a 1-2-1 basis and they were able to explore the benefits of mirroring activities to develop rapport.
Call & Response
Zain, one of the Hive College students, enjoyed taking leadership roles in our rehearsals and loved interacting with the nursery students so we gave him the role of facilitator for this activity where he led the whole group in a game of Percussion Call & Response.
La Bamba
The recording of our showpiece 'La Bamba' shows how even those pupils who did not have photo permissions to be in the video performances were able to take active roles behind the scenes by directing Kate our film maker.
Pure Imagination
This song from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was the inspiration for the curation of a full multi-sensory art exhibition planned, created and facilitated by pupils across each of the schools.
